Arden Ray Chapman papers, 1898-1944.

This collection consists of personal and military papers of Arden Ray Chapman of Lincoln, Neb. Included are handwritten and typed correspondence, telegrams, photographs, certificates, military medals including a Purple Heart medal, genealogical information concerning members of the Chapman, Carruth, and Watson families, a hand-drawn map, newspaper clippings and other printed items, and a bound ledger which was used as a scrapbook. Later-era typed transcriptions of the correspondence are included.

Arden Ray Chapman served in Company M of the First Regiment of Nebraska, in the Spanish-American War, and in the Philippine Insurrection of 1899. His service took him to the Pacific; his letters home were written in Denver, Pueblo, San Francisco, Hawaii, Manila, and other locations.
